Colorectal Cancer

From the Cancer Plan

While colorectal screening has been proven to be effective in preventing and detecting cancer early, only half of Maine adults over 50 are getting screened regularly.

Current activities include:

Piloting the LiveWell project based on the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program. The purpose of the project is to advance the physical and emotional strength of colorectal cancer survivors after completing their primary therapy. LiveWell will include the following key components:

  • Setting fitness goals that are realistic and achievable
  • Eating for better health
  • Accessing community resources
  • Dealing with extreme fatigue
  • Managing daily tasks
  • Managing medications
  • Cognitive symptom management
