Cancer screening is the early identification of cancer or pre-cancerous changes in people who do not have any signs or symptoms. Early detection of cancer leads to an earlier diagnosis of cancer when treatment may improve health outcomes.
Current priorities include colorectal cancer, cancer genetics and prostate cancer. An example includes the co-sponsorship (with the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer) of PSA Testing: Evidence-based but Still Controversial at the 2007 Maine Medical Center’s Annual Oncology Symposium.
